Present-Day
By Jadyn Novak
The breath of the wind flows,
gently rustling the limbs of trees,
the leaves of each bush and flower,
and the feathers of each bird on a tree
The rhythm of the air causes a change in pitch,
hitting my ears like a screech of words and lyrics
The tone of the wind is beautiful ––
a sound made from nature itself
The cool, crisp air blows by me,
carrying the scent of rotting leaves and changing seasons,
making me feel like I’m living in the past
I step forward –– into the present
